1.3m% profit on car boot find

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Three wine glasses bought at a car boot in Portsmouth for 40p each sold for £16,000 by Stride & Son of Chichester at their sale on 24 June.

The opaque twist glasses were decorated by the Beilby workshop of Newcastle upon Tyne around 1765 and bear the arms of John Thomas (1712-1793), a career churchman from Cumberland.  (Taken from the Antiques Trade Gazette)
