Regulations controlling the sale of ammonium nitrate

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

NAVA have been asked by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office to ensure that NAVA members are aware of the risks associated with the sale of ammonium nitrate.

There are now regulations controlling the sale of ammonium nitrate. These controls revolve around a 'Code of Practice for the Transfer and Traceability of Fertiliser Classified as Dangerous Goods'. The majority of AN is manufactured abroad, and can only be imported into and sold in the UK if accompanied by a certifcate that shows the consignment has passed a Detonation Resistance Test (DRT).

All auctioneers have been asked to adhere to the above to ensure that ammonium nitrate does not end up in the hands of extremists. If you require further information pleae call: 0207 931 7142.
