Clive started
selling chattels in
Hythe, Kent in 1972
as a service to his
Estate Agency based
clients. In 1983 he
sold his four branch
practice with the
sale room to Ward
and Partners, the
then largest chain
of Estate Agents in
Kent. The Firm was
sold three years
later to Prudential
Property Services
and appointed Clive
Emson the Regional
Property Services
Director and
National Auctioneer.
In 1987 Prudential
sold the sale rooms
in Hythe, Sevenoaks
and Rye. together
with all their other
Fine Art auction
rooms to Philips.
Clive Emson left
Prudential in
October 1989 to form
his eponymous firm
of land and property
auctioneers based in
Kent. The business
is now in the top
ten property
auctioneers in the
UK both in respect
of lots sold and
turnover. Clive is
an honoured member
of the NAEA and
serves on the
national joint RICS/NAEA
Auction Committee.
